Vice President Sara Duterte is set to travel to Japan for a personal trip from Aug. 19 to 24, 2026, Acting Communications Secretary Dave Gomez confirmed Tuesday.
“Yes. I can confirm the FTA (foreign travel authority), but I don’t have any more details,” Gomez said in a message to reporters.
The trip will reportedly be undertaken at no cost to the government. Duterte’s visit to Japan comes as she faces her ongoing impeachment trial before the Senate.
