Derek Ramsay Says He Will Cooperate With LTO Probe Over Alleged Fake Plate

Actor Derek Ramsay said he is willingness to cooperate with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) as the agency investigates a Porsche 918 Spyder flagged for allegedly displaying a fake license plate.

Addressing the controversy on Instagram, Ramsay firmly denied driving with fraudulent plates.

“I’ve seen the issue regarding the 918 Spyder on social media. I do not drive any cars with fake plates. All my vehicles have proper plates,” Ramsay said.

While clarifying that he has not yet received an official Show Cause Order (SCO), the actor promised full transparency if summoned.

“I have not yet received any show-cause order, but I will cooperate and appear when requested,” he said, adding an apology to the agency, “to the LTO, I apologize for what is going on. Driving with fake plates is wrong and should not be tolerated.”

The LTO issued the SCO against an actor and the vehicle’s designated driver after discovering the supercar was traveling on public roads with a plate number matching a different alphanumeric combination than its original registration.

As a result, the agency placed the vehicle under alarm status for impoundment and issued a 90-day preventive suspension on the designated driver’s license. Both parties must submit a sworn explanation to the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao emphasized that high profile status offers no protection against traffic enforcement.

“There are no VIPs in the enforcement of the law. Whoever is involved, if found to have violated the rules, will face the corresponding accountability,” Lacanilao said, reiterating that vehicle registration and plate legitimacy apply equally to all motorists.
