Six people have died and seven others were injured due to the combined effects of Tropical Cyclones Luis and Maymay and the southwest monsoon or habagat, according to the latest disaster report released Saturday by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The fatalities included two people in Benguet killed in a landslide, two in Rodriguez, Rizal, who died in a rockslide, and two in La Union, one from drowning and another due to electrocution.
All seven reported injuries were recorded in the Benguet province.
Five individuals were injured in Baguio City following a landslide, while one was hurt in a vehicular accident in Kapangan and another in a landslide in La Trinidad. Authorities reported no missing persons as of the latest update.
The weather disturbances have affected a total of 74,755 families, or 261,048 individuals, across Regions I, II, III, V, IX, CAR, MIMAROPA, and CALABARZON. A total of 83 evacuation centers remain operational, sheltering 2,519 families or 7,580 individuals.
Infrastructure damage is currently estimated at P105.5 million, while agricultural losses have reached P3.53 million. The storms also damaged 120 homes, destroying eight and partially damaging 112.
The government has distributed ₱7.38 million in humanitarian assistance to impacted communities as relief and recovery operations continue nationwide.
