President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has approved the deputation of law enforcement agencies and other government instrumentalities to help ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao parliamentary elections in September.
Through Memorandum Order No. 48, signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on July 1, Marcos concurred with the Commission on Elections’ request to deputize the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police and other concerned government agencies for the polls.
The Comelec sought the President’s concurrence through Resolution No. 11222 issued on May 6, 2026, in connection with the BARMM Parliamentary Elections scheduled for Sept. 14.
“Consistent with their respective mandates, the foregoing law enforcement agencies and other concerned agencies are hereby directed to coordinate and cooperate with the COMELEC in the performance of their duties and functions, subject to existing laws, rules, and regulations,” Marcos said in Memorandum Order No. 48.
The first regular parliamentary election in the BARMM is set on the second Monday of September, which falls on Sept. 14, 2026.
