The death toll from Super Typhoon Inday and the southwest monsoon it enhanced has risen to 18 after authorities confirmed another fatality in Lanao del Sur, the Office of Civil Defense said Sunday.

OCD Deputy Spokesperson Diego Mariago said the latest reported death was from Calanogas town, bringing the number of fatalities in Lanao del Sur to six.

The remaining 12 deaths were recorded outside the province—10 in Sarangani and two in Bukidnon. Mariago said the victims died due to rain-induced landslides and drowning.

The number of missing persons also increased from nine last Saturday to 12. Seven of them are from Davao Occidental, while five are from Lanao del Sur.

Meanwhile, the number of injured rose from four to seven. Two injuries were reported in Lanao del Sur and Benguet, while Marinduque, Sarangani, and Davao Occidental each recorded one.

Mariago said the number of people affected by the weather disturbances has reached 123,000 families, or 562,000 individuals, up from 112,000 families, or 514,700 individuals.

Of the total, 4,200 families, or 16,200 individuals, are staying in 116 evacuation centers.

Inday and the southwest monsoon also damaged 236 houses, according to the OCD.

Inday exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility last Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is monitoring a low-pressure area outside the PAR.

As of 2 p.m. Sunday, the LPA was located about 1,800 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.

PAGASA said the weather disturbance has a “low” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
