More than 11,000 people remained in evacuation centers as the combined effects of Tropical Cyclone Inday and the enhanced southwest monsoon continued to displace families and damage homes across several parts of the country.
The latest disaster monitoring report released Saturday morning showed that about 2,900 families, or 11,200 individuals, were staying in 77 evacuation centers because of flooding, landslides and other weather-related hazards.
At least 153 houses were damaged, including 141 that were partially damaged and 12 that were destroyed.
Overall, the weather disturbances affected around 112,500 families, equivalent to approximately 514,700 individuals.
Government agencies had provided ₱16.41 million worth of assistance to affected communities as relief and response operations continued in the hardest-hit areas.
The report also placed the death toll at 17, with nine people still missing and four others injured.
Ten deaths were reported in Malapatan, Sarangani, five in Calanogas, Lanao del Sur, and two in Bukidnon. The fatalities were attributed to landslides and drowning.
Six people remained missing in Calanogas, while three others were reported missing in Malapatan.
The four injured individuals were linked to landslides in Calanogas, Malapatan and Torrijos, Marinduque.
Authorities said validation of the reported casualties was still ongoing.
Residents in vulnerable communities were urged to remain alert as the enhanced southwest monsoon continued to bring heavy rains over parts of the country.
