Police arrested the Cordillera Administrative Region’s second most wanted person during an intelligence-driven operation in Buguias, Benguet, on July 8.
The female fugitive was wanted for three counts of estafa and faced a total recommended bail of ₱300,000, according to the Philippine National Police.
She was arrested through three warrants issued by the courts.
The operation was led by the 102nd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 1, with support from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Benguet Provincial Field Unit and police intelligence and municipal units from Benguet and the Ilocos Region.
After being informed of the reason for her arrest and her constitutional rights, the accused was turned over to the CIDG-Benguet Provincial Field Unit for proper disposition.
PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the arrest showed the police organization’s continuing effort to track down fugitives and bring them before the courts.
“Every successful arrest of a wanted person strengthens the rule of law and reinforces public confidence that justice will not be delayed by those who attempt to evade it,” Nartatez said.
“Ang bawat warrant of arrest ay pananagutang dapat ipatupad. Hindi kami titigil hangga’t hindi naihaharap sa hukuman ang mga taong pinaghahanap ng batas,” he added.
The PNP said the operation formed part of its intelligence-led campaign against wanted persons under its Enhanced Managing Police Operations strategy.
