The Philippine National Police seized more than two kilos of suspected shabu worth about P14.11 million in an anti-drug operation in Bacolod City on the night of July 5.
The operation also led to the arrest of a high-value individual identified only by the alias “Waway,” a 25-year-old male listed in the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council watchlist.
The PNP said local anti-illegal drug operatives carried out the operation through a legitimate police action.
Authorities said the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights in a language he understood. The operation was also documented using body-worn cameras in compliance with PNP policies.
The seized items were inventoried in the presence of required witnesses and will undergo laboratory examination as part of the case build-up.
The PNP said the operation reflects the continued implementation of its Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which emphasizes intelligence-driven, lawful, and accountable police action.
PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating personnel for the successful operation and reminded police units to carry out professional and rights-based law enforcement.
“Malaking hakbang ito sa ating kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga. Ngunit higit sa dami ng nakumpiska, ang mahalaga ay ang maayos, legal, at responsable nating pagpapatupad ng batas. Patuloy nating ipapakita na kayang maging matatag ang kapulisan habang iginagalang ang karapatan ng bawat isa,” Nartatez said.
He also urged the public to continue cooperating with authorities to help keep communities safe.
“Hindi natin ito magagawa nang mag-isa. Ang pakikipagtulungan ng mamamayan ang isa sa pinakamahalagang sandata laban sa kriminalidad. Patuloy nating pangalagaan ang ating mga komunidad sa pamamagitan ng maagap na pagbibigay ng tamang impormasyon sa kapulisan,” he added.
The PNP assured the public that anti-illegal drug operations will continue with professionalism, transparency, and full adherence to the rule of law.
