DOTr Secures Bicutan Site for Mega Transit Hub Linking NSCR, Subway

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has secured a 6,000-square-meter property in Bicutan from Filinvest Land Inc. for the construction of the Bicutan Station, a key component of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project.

The planned station is envisioned as a major transit hub that will connect two of the government’s flagship transport projects: the 147-kilometer NSCR and the Metro Manila Subway Project.

Under the project’s unidirectional track-sharing design, Metro Manila Subway trains will be able to run along the NSCR line, creating a more efficient rail connection from Clark to Calamba and other parts of Metro Manila.

Filinvest Land president and chief executive Tristan Las Marias said the partnership supports the company’s goal of helping improve mobility and access to emerging urban centers and nearby communities.

“Our partnership with the DOTr for the Bicutan Station, which will be adjacent to one of our prime properties, is a testament to Filinvest Land’s commitment to building the Filipino dream by providing efficient and convenient transportation connections to potential urban growth centers and nearby residential areas,” Las Marias said.

“By dedicating this land and developing the Filinvest Pedestrian Link, we are helping build a more connected nation where citizens can travel safely, efficiently, and with dignity,” he added.

The Filinvest Pedestrian Link will directly connect the company’s 6.5-hectare property and future development to the station. It will include an elevated pedestrian bridge across the East Service Road and a covered at-grade walkway.

The protective canopy will extend to the multimodal transport pick-up and drop-off area, guiding commuters safely toward the station’s main entrance and exit while improving the overall passenger experience.

The Bicutan Station forms part of a 5.8-kilometer elevated railway segment that also includes the Sucat Station. Construction is expected to ramp up toward the target completion of the segment in 2031.

The project is also expected to support employment, with around 350,000 direct and indirect jobs projected during the construction phase and eventual full systemwide operations in 2033. These include jobs in engineering, construction, transit operations, maintenance, and local retail activity within the transport corridor.
