The local government of Marikina City is continuing to strengthen its active transport programs and expand cycling infrastructure as part of efforts to make the city safer, healthier, and more environmentally sustainable.

In her first State of the City Address, Mayor Maan Teodoro highlighted Marikina’s recognition as one of the country’s bike-friendly cities, citing the city’s long-standing promotion of cycling and continued investments in bicycle infrastructure.

According to the city government, ongoing initiatives include the improvement of bike lanes, the development of end-of-trip facilities, and the implementation of programs aimed at making cycling safer, more convenient, and more accessible for residents.

The city said these efforts are part of its broader commitment to promoting active transportation and encouraging environmentally friendly modes of travel while improving mobility and road safety for Marikina residents.
