Makati Holds Active Shooter Drill to Boost School Safety

The local government of Makati City, in partnership with the Makati City Police Station and other emergency response agencies, conducted a multi-agency Active Shooter Simulation Exercise at San Antonio National High School on July 3 to strengthen school safety and emergency preparedness.

The drill was led by Makati Chief of Police Police Col. Pedro Alagano Jr., and tested the coordinated response of the Philippine National Police (PNP), SWAT, forensic teams, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, barangay officials, and school personnel in a simulated active shooter incident.

According to the city government, the exercise was designed to improve coordination, response time, and readiness among law enforcement units, emergency responders, and school officials during critical incidents.

As part of additional security measures, the Makati Public Safety Department has also intensified high-visibility patrols and monitoring in all public and private schools across the city following recent school shooting threats circulating on social media.

The city government said the simulation exercise and heightened security measures are part of its continuing efforts to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for students, teachers, and school personnel.
