Makati police have launched an investigation into an alleged threat against students and teachers of a school in the city after a Facebook post raised concern over campus safety.
The Makati City Police Station said it is treating the reported threat seriously and is coordinating with school officials to strengthen security measures while the investigation is ongoing.
Police said visibility and preventive patrols have been increased around schools and other educational institutions in the city.
The move comes amid heightened concern over school safety following the fatal shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City.
The Makati police also cited its recent Active Shooter Simulation Exercise, which was conducted to improve the preparedness, awareness, and coordination of students, school personnel, and responding authorities during emergencies.
Authorities urged the public to remain calm and avoid sharing unverified posts, rumors, or misleading information that could trigger panic.
Police said they are also investigating the spread of false or misleading information related to the alleged threat.
The Makati City Police Station said it will continue working with schools and the community to improve preparedness and maintain a safe learning environment.
