The Philippine Military Academy and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong led a tree planting activity at Fort General Gregorio H. del Pilar in Baguio City as part of efforts to preserve the green environment inside the camp.
The activity was held at the PMA Museum on May 28, 2026, with cyclists from various groups joining the initiative.
PMA Superintendent Vice Admiral Caesar Bernard N. Valencia, along with key Academy officials and personnel, also took part in the event.
Participants planted 30 Jacaranda seedlings beside the PMA Museum. The seedlings were donated by the City Government of Baguio.
Jacaranda trees are known for their violet-blue blossoms and suitability to Baguio City’s climate. They also help improve air quality, provide shade, and enhance the natural landscape.
As the trees grow, PMA said they will serve as lasting reminders of the shared responsibility to care for and preserve the environment.
The activity formed part of the Academy’s continuing efforts to maintain and protect the green environment within the camp.
By sustaining tree cover in its training grounds and surrounding areas, PMA said it helps promote cleaner air, environmental resilience, and a healthier setting for cadet training and daily operations.
Through initiatives such as the tree planting activity, the Academy said it continues to preserve the natural character of its grounds for future generations of military leaders.
