Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso has ordered the deployment of police personnel at all public school gates in the city to strengthen campus security following the deadly school shooting in Tacloban City.
Moreno directed the Manila Police District to implement the “Pulis sa Gate” program across Manila’s public schools to help protect students, teachers, parents, and school personnel.
The directive came after the Tacloban City shooting involving minors that left three students dead, prompting local governments to review and tighten security measures in schools.
Moreno said the presence of police officers at school entrances is meant to reassure students, parents, and teachers while helping deter violence, disturbances, and other threats that may emerge near school premises.
The mayor said the initiative is part of Manila’s broader effort to maintain peace and order in educational institutions and provide a safer learning environment for public school communities.
