The Department of Transportation and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board have tapped GCash to distribute fuel subsidies digitally to public utility vehicle drivers and operators nationwide.
Under the program, eligible beneficiaries will receive their fuel assistance directly through their GCash e-wallets, allowing faster and more secure disbursement while reducing the need for drivers and operators to travel, line up, or undergo manual payout procedures.
The initiative was launched amid rising global oil prices driven by continuing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have added financial pressure on transport workers dependent on daily income.
GCash said the digital payout system is designed to improve transparency, speed, and accountability in the delivery of government aid.
“GCash is committed to working with the government to ensure that digital financial infrastructure advances equitable access to essential services and upholds the dignity of every Filipino,” said Cleo Celeste Santos, GCash B2B sales head.
“In partnership with the LTFRB, this initiative demonstrates how digital subsidy disbursement can remove structural barriers, such as long queues and manual processes, while strengthening transparency and accountability in delivering government support to Filipinos,” Santos added.
GCash said the partnership also lays the groundwork for a scalable disbursement platform that can support bulk and scheduled payouts, governance approvals, and automated audit reporting for future subsidy programs.
Drivers may verify their eligibility by checking the official beneficiary list on the LTFRB Facebook page or by contacting their respective LTFRB regional offices.
Eligible beneficiaries generally include registered PUV drivers and operators with valid franchises and updated LTFRB and Land Transportation Office records. Drivers may be required to present valid identification and franchise documents for verification.
Those not included in the beneficiary list may request record validation directly through the LTFRB.
