PNP Seizes P6-M Worth of Non-Compliant E-Bike Products in Pampanga

The Philippine National Police (PNP) seized more than P6 million worth of imported e-bike batteries, chargers, and electric bicycles during a search operation in Mexico, Pampanga on June 23.

The operation was carried out by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) through a search warrant for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 7394, or the Consumer Act of the Philippines.

Authorities confiscated 365 imported e-bike batteries, 90 battery chargers, and 20 electric bicycles with batteries, with an estimated total value of P6.02 million.

Initial findings showed that the imported products allegedly lacked the required Import Commodity Clearance stickers and Philippine Standard marks, which certify that goods comply with the country’s safety and quality standards.

Police also found that the warehouse was reportedly operating without the necessary local business permit.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended the operating teams for the coordinated enforcement action, saying the operation was aimed at protecting consumers and ensuring fair compliance with the law.

“Ang layunin ng operasyong ito ay tiyakin na ang mga produktong ibinebenta sa ating merkado ay sumusunod sa itinakdang pamantayan para sa kaligtasan ng publiko. Hindi natin hinahadlangan ang lehitimong negosyo; ang nais lamang natin ay patas ang pagsunod sa batas para sa kapakanan ng lahat,” Nartatez said.

The PNP said the operation forms part of its Focused Agenda, particularly its Enhanced Managing Police Operations priority, which seeks to strengthen enforcement efforts that protect consumers and promote accountability.

The police organization said it will continue working with concerned government agencies to address violations that may compromise consumer welfare while upholding due process and the rule of law.

“Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ganitong mga operasyon sa pakikipagtulungan sa iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan upang maprotektahan ang ating mga mamimili,” Nartatez added.

The PNP said the campaign also supports the administration’s broader push for public safety, responsible business practices, and lawful enforcement under its program for a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
