The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Southeastern Mindanao delivered 7.1 tons of relief goods to families affected by the recent earthquake on Balut Island, Municipality of Sarangani, on June 26, 2026.
Onboard the BRP Malamawi (FPB-2403), the PCG transported the second batch of humanitarian aid, including food packs, tents, and drinking water, donated by the Archdiocese of Davao, the Diocese of Tagum, and the Diocese of Mati.
The operation was coordinated with Caritas Philippines and the DADITAMA Social Action Network, reinforcing PCG’s ongoing partnership with faith-based organizations to ensure timely assistance to remote and hard-to-reach communities.
“This mission highlights the PCG’s commitment to reaching island and far-flung areas where land access is limited,” said a PCG spokesperson. “We remain steadfast in delivering relief and hope to affected families, in partnership with government and private organizations.”
The delivery is part of the PCG’s iCARE program, which emphasizes Integrity, Commitment, Accountability, Responsibility, and Excellence in public service, ensuring that humanitarian support remains reliable, timely, and effective.
