The death toll from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani on June 8 has risen to 81, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Friday.
Latest data from the NDRRMC showed that 60 fatalities were recorded in the Soccsksargen region and 21 in the Davao region.
The Office of Civil Defense said the deaths were reported in Sarangani (33), South Cotabato (27), Davao Occidental (20), and Davao del Sur (1).
Authorities also reported that 31 people remain missing, including 18 from Soccsksargen and 13 from Davao.
Injuries have reached 1,315, with the majority recorded in Soccsksargen, followed by Davao and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The quake has affected more than 1.6 million individuals across 382,269 families in 620 barangays in Soccsksargen, Davao, Zamboanga Peninsula, and BARMM.
Of those affected, 5,496 families or 23,568 individuals are still staying in 63 evacuation centers.
Infrastructure damage has been estimated at ₱1.35 billion, largely concentrated in Soccsksargen.
The NDRRMC also reported extensive housing damage, with 87,058 homes affected—15,429 totally destroyed and 71,629 partially damaged—mostly in the hardest-hit provinces.
Authorities continue search, rescue, and relief operations as aftershocks and humanitarian needs persist in affected areas.
