Filipino MSMEs to Get Training, Exposure Under Global E-Commerce Program

Philippine-based holding company and e-commerce enabler Gencys Group has partnered with Alibaba Global Initiatives (AGI), the training arm of Chinese tech giant Alibaba founded by Jack Ma, to provide Filipino entrepreneurs access to global digital business ecosystems.

Gencys CEO and CFO Hermani Razon said the partnership, signed last month, will formally bring Alibaba’s entrepreneur development program to the Philippines for the first time through AGI.

He said the initiative is designed to equip local business owners with knowledge and tools to compete in the digital economy, drawing on Alibaba’s experience in scaling technology-driven enterprises worldwide.

“For the first time, Alibaba Global Initiatives will formally establish a program in the Philippines through Gencys,” Razon said.

The collaboration launched the E-volve Program, a structured initiative aimed at developing Filipino entrepreneurs through training, international exposure, and business implementation support.

The program is divided into three phases. The first focuses on foundational learning through face-to-face and digital sessions at Gencys’ House of Prime platform, featuring industry experts including Professor Jeff Towson, who lectures on China’s digital economy and platform growth models.

The second phase involves a five- to six-day immersion in China, where participants will visit major technology firms and innovation hubs, including Alibaba’s campus, to observe e-commerce, artificial intelligence, logistics, and digital infrastructure systems.

The final phase centers on execution, with mentorship and guidance to help entrepreneurs apply digital strategies to their businesses, with the goal of measurable growth and transformation.

Razon said the inaugural batch will include at least 50 Filipino entrepreneurs, with the program targeting up to 1,000 businesses for digital transformation over the next three years.

He said Gencys positions itself as an enabler rather than a traditional agency, focused on helping entrepreneurs adopt e-commerce, automation, and AI-driven systems.

The company said it is also exploring future partnerships with global technology firms, including potential expansion into Silicon Valley and other international digital commerce ecosystems.
