Senate Seeks Security Support for Upcoming Official Events

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the Senate has requested security assistance as part of preparations for upcoming official activities, though authorities stressed that no security threats have been detected.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the request forms part of preventive and contingency planning to ensure the orderly conduct of government functions.

He clarified that intelligence monitoring has not shown any validated threats linked to the scheduled activities.

“The PNP emphasizes that there is currently no identified or validated threat associated with the said activities,” Nartatez said in a statement.

While the Senate did not specify the upcoming events, it is set to convene on July 6 for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Nartatez said police units have already conducted a security survey of the venue and surrounding areas as part of standard protocol.

The results of the inspection will guide deployment planning, coordination measures, and contingency arrangements, he added.

The PNP assured the Senate and the public of continued security support, emphasizing readiness to maintain peace and order during government proceedings.
