President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered a thorough investigation into the shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City that left three people dead and seven others injured, Malacañang said.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the President expressed grief over the incident and directed authorities to ensure safety and security measures, especially in schools.
Authorities said the suspects, both minors and Grade 9 students, have been arrested.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) expressed sympathy for the victims’ families and said it is coordinating with local authorities to provide psychosocial support.
“This tragic event has caused not only the loss of lives but also profound emotional pain for the families left behind, survivors, and witnesses. We are especially concerned about the impact on children, as every child deserves to grow up in a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where their rights and welfare are protected,” the DSWD said.
