First Family Gives Marcos Jr. Mock ‘Executive Order’: Rest Day, No Stress, Dessert Included

The First Family marked Father’s Day with a lighthearted tribute to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., saying he deserves a “well-deserved rest” and a “sweet dessert” for the occasion.

President Marcos shared on his social media account the framed “Official Presidential Father’s Day Executive Order” given by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and their sons—Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos, Simon Marcos, and Vincent Marcos.

The framed “order,” issued under the “Office of the Chief Dad-in-Charge” and signed by the First Lady and their sons, humorously instructed the President to take a break from official duties for the day.

It contained three main provisions: “Dad must rest today,” “No stressful meeting,” and “Dessert is mandatory.”

The mock document noted that while the President continues to handle national affairs, he also fulfills responsibilities as a father, stating that “a period of well-deserved rest shall be observed on Father’s Day.”

It also added that Father’s Day is meant for “family, gratitude, and quality time,” directing that all non-essential meetings and stressful discussions be deferred for the day.

Another section emphasized that “every celebration worthy of the Office of the President deserves a sweet ending,” encouraging the inclusion of dessert in the celebration.

The First Lady also posted the framed executive order alongside a photo of the President with their three sons, thanking him for his dedication as a father and husband while playfully reinforcing the directive to rest.

“Take a break,” she said, adding that while their sons call him “pops” and the public refers to him as “Mr. President,” she considers herself the one who gets to call him “mine.”

She also thanked him for his “strength, patience, terrible jokes, and big heart,” saying life is “sweeter, funnier, and more meaningful” with him.

“By virtue of our Executive Order, you are hereby directed to REST today,” she added.

The Father’s Day tribute came shortly after the President returned from Russia, where he attended the ASEAN–Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan and held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also recently hosted German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during a state visit and visited earthquake-affected areas in General Santos and Sarangani.
