‘Pabahay At Pailaw Ng Pulis’ Project, Brings New Hope To La Union Family

A community-focused initiative led by the 2nd La Union Provincial Mobile Force Company under PLTCOL Roland M. Kingat resulted in the turnover of the “Pabahay at Pailaw ng Pulis” project to a family in Sitio Canubat, Barangay San Jose, Caba, La Union on June 18, 2026.

Despite the challenges faced by the beneficiary family, including the loss of vision due to illness, the situation became a driving force for police personnel to strengthen their community engagement efforts. With the support of partner stakeholders, advocacy groups, local officials, and volunteers, a safe and decent home was built for the Castillejos family.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the initiative reflects the organization’s broader role beyond law enforcement, highlighting its commitment to community service and social support.

“Ang mga ganitong gawain ay sumasalamin sa puso ng PNP—ang magmalasakit at maglingkod nang buong katapatan. Sa simpleng pagtulong, nakakapaghatid tayo ng pag-asa sa ating mga kababayan,” he said.

The project stemmed from sustained community outreach and patrol operations that identified the family’s need for safer and more secure housing.

Local officials, La Union police personnel, advocacy partners, and residents witnessed the turnover ceremony, which highlighted collaboration between the police and the community.

The initiative underscores strengthened ties between the PNP and the public, aligned with its guiding principle of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” emphasizing service that extends beyond policing and into community upliftment.
