The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has refunded more than P9 billion in loan amortizations to over 500,000 members and pensioners under the expanded Balik Ginhawa 2 program.
GSIS said it released P9.06 billion in refunds within 24 days of the program’s implementation, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide timely financial assistance to Filipinos.
The latest disbursement covers refunds released under Balik Ginhawa 2 alone. Including payments made through the original Balik Ginhawa program, GSIS has returned more than P18 billion in loan amortizations to qualified borrowers.
The program allows eligible members and pensioners to recover previously paid monthly loan amortizations, with the refunds credited directly to their GSIS eCards.
Borrowers may use the refunded amounts for immediate financial needs while continuing to pay their loans under the original terms. The refunded amortizations will be settled through a corresponding extension of the loan repayment period.
To make the princess more accessible, GSIS has also introduced a feature in its GSIS Touch mobile application that enables members and pensioners who received less than their expected refund to verify whether they are still entitled to an additional refundable amount and apply for them immediately.
GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said the feature was designed to ensure that all qualified borrowers receive the full benefit avalable to them.
“Through this feature, we are making sure that those who are still entitled to a refundable amount can easily verify their eligibility and receive the remaining benefit due them,” Veloso said.
Balik Ginhawa 2 expanded the program’s coverage from three to as many as six monthly loan amortizations.
While the original program covered eligible payments made from December 2025 to February 2026, the expanded version novw covers qualified amortizations paid from March to May 2026.
Eligible borrowers may recover up to six months’ worth of loan amortizations, subject to the program’s terms and conditions.
