The Municipal Government of Pateros took part in the Second Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on Thursday as part of continuing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and raise public awareness on earthquake safety.
The activity was led by Mayor Gerald German, Vice Mayor Carlo Santos, representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Pateros, and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) head Marko Pielago.
The simultaneous drill was conducted to enhance public awareness on the importance of preparedness during emergencies and natural disasters. It also served as a venue to test emergency response protocols and ensure that participants are familiar with the proper actions to take during earthquakes and other calamities.
Local officials underscored that disaster preparedness is a shared responsibility, urging residents to actively participate in training programs and preparedness initiatives aimed at building a safer and more resilient municipality.
The local government said initiatives such as the NSED are essential in fostering a culture of preparedness and ensuring that communities are equipped to respond effectively during emergencies.
“Sama-sama tayong maging handa. Sama-sama tayong maging ligtas,” the municipal government said.
