The Taguig Smoke-Free Task Force, together with barangay officials, intensified the enforcement of the city’s smoke-free ordinance in Barangay Bagumbayan on Monday, June 15, as part of the observance of National No-Smoking Month.
During the operation, authorities removed stickers and other promotional materials encouraging cigarette use from various establishments. Store signages and painted brand stretching advertisements promoting tobacco products were also covered and repainted to comply with City Ordinance No. 15, Series of 2017, or the Comprehensive Smoke-Free Ordinance of Taguig.
City officials said the activity forms part of the local government’s continuing efforts to curb tobacco promotion in public spaces and protect residents from exposure to smoking-related advertisements.
The initiative also reinforces Taguig’s commitment to promoting a healthier environment and raising awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use and exposure to tobacco marketing.
