The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed that nationwide celebrations and related protests on Friday, June 12, marking the 128th Philippine Independence Day, proceeded peacefully and without major incidents.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the police maintained close monitoring across the country under directives from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla to ensure public safety.

“As of this hour, the localized demonstrations and public assemblies being held across the country in observance of Independence Day have remained completely peaceful and orderly, with no major untoward incidents reported,” Nartatez stated.

The PNP deployed roughly 89,000 personnel nationwide, placing all regional offices and national support units on full alert. Officers were stationed at commemorative events, transportation hubs, tourist destinations, and other crowded areas, ensuring both visibility and adherence to crowd management protocols.

Nartatez commended the ground personnel for their dedication. “Your hard work and sacrifices once again translated to the protection and peace of mind of everybody,” he said.

The police force emphasized coordination with local governments, event organizers, and other agencies to maintain security throughout the day. “This Independence Day demonstrated that the exercise of citizens’ rights and our peace and order mandate can coexist when mutual respect is observed,” Nartatez added.
