Cashless System To Speed Up Services For Overseas Filipinos

The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has partnered with Maya Philippines to transform its frontline services into a fully cashless system, a move aimed at improving efficiency and making transactions more convenient for overseas Filipinos.

The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement that will integrate Maya’s secure online payment gateway into the CFO’s digital platforms.

According to the CFO, the initiative is expected to reduce processing times, eliminate long payment queues, and provide a more accessible and seamless payment experience for non-resident Filipinos seeking government clearances and other services.

CFO Chairperson Secretary Dante “Klink” Ang II said the shift supports the administration’s push to modernize government services through digitalization.

“Through this partnership with Maya Philippines, the CFO will be able to make its operations more efficient, achieving its vision of concluding transactions on a cashless basis,” Ang said.

The agency noted that the program will benefit a wide range of overseas Filipinos, including permanent emigrants, permanent resident visa holders, dual citizens, foreign-naturalized Filipinos, Exchange Visitor Program participants, and Filipino descendants abroad.

The CFO said the initiative also supports its “brain circulation” strategy, which seeks to strengthen ties between overseas Filipinos and the Philippines by encouraging the exchange of skills, technology, investments, and other resources.

Maya Philippines Enterprise Head Peter Thaddeus Cruz pledged continued technological enhancements to ensure reliable transactions, while CFO Undersecretary Ma. Arlene Borja said the upgraded system will help keep government services secure, accessible, and responsive to the needs of Filipinos around the world.
