PNP Backs Palace Order on Stronger Nationwide Anti-Crime Drive

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered its units nationwide to align local operations with Malacañang’s directive strengthening government coordination in crime prevention and public safety.

PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the police organization fully supports Memorandum Circular No. 120, which directs government agencies and local government units to assist the National Police Commission in implementing the 2026 National Crime Prevention Program.

The circular, signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on May 21 and released on June 6, seeks to strengthen the government’s nationwide anti-crime campaign through closer coordination among national agencies, LGUs, law enforcement units, and community partners.

“The Philippine National Police fully supports the directive of Malacañang and remains committed to working closely with all government agencies to strengthen our anti-crime efforts and ensure safer communities nationwide,” Nartatez said.

Under the 2026 National Crime Prevention Program, NAPOLCOM will lead efforts to improve community-based crime prevention, modernize law enforcement tools and digital systems, and strengthen coordination across the criminal justice system.

The program also aims to improve law enforcement capability and professionalism, establish a national crime prevention knowledge management system, promote data interoperability, and support governance reforms and institutional integrity.

Nartatez said the Palace directive reinforces the need for a whole-of-government approach in fighting criminality.

“This directive reinforces the whole-of-government approach in addressing criminality. The PNP stands ready to enhance coordination, intelligence sharing, and law enforcement operations to protect the public,” he said.

The PNP chief directed police units to synchronize their local anti-crime initiatives with the new policy, including tighter coordination between regional police offices and national support units.

“With stronger government coordination and active community participation, we can further reduce crime and build safer neighborhoods for all,” Nartatez said.

The PNP said it will continue working with NAPOLCOM, LGUs, and other partner agencies to ensure that the national crime prevention framework is translated into coordinated and sustained police action on the ground.
