NBI Nabs Gun Dealer For Selling Unregistered Firearms

The National Bureau of Investigation arrested a gun dealer in Makati City for allegedly selling unregistered firearms, including high-powered weapons, during an entrapment operation.

The operation was conducted by the NBI-Counter Terrorism Division following information that a gun shop at Makati Cinema Square was allegedly selling unregistered firearms to politicians with private armed groups in Mindanao, Sulu, and Basilan.

An undercover team composed of personnel from the NBI-CTD, NBI-Counter Intelligence Division, and NBI-Technical Intelligence Division later conducted a test-buy at the shop.

According to the NBI, the dealer allegedly offered fully automatic long firearms without requiring buyers to present a License to Own and Possess Firearms.

During the sting operation, the suspect allegedly agreed to sell four unregistered automatic rifles and two unregistered pistols to undercover agents for P1 million.

The suspect was arrested while counting the marked money, while the firearms were confiscated by authorities.

The suspect was brought to the NBI main office for booking procedures.

The NBI said the suspect will face charges for alleged violations of Sections 28(b) and 32 of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
