The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested the National Capital Region Police Office’s top regional most wanted person during a manhunt operation in Ivisan, Capiz on June 1.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the suspect was also listed as the top provincial and municipal most wanted person, as well as the Highway Patrol Group’s No. 1 most wanted.
Authorities served warrants of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 266 in Taguig City for alleged violation of Republic Act 10883, or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, and murder under the Revised Penal Code.
Both warrants carried no recommended bail.
The operation was conducted by the Provincial Highway Patrol Team Capiz under the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 6 as part of the PNP’s campaign against wanted persons.
After his arrest, the suspect was brought to the PHPT Capiz office for documentation and legal processing before turnover to the issuing court.
“Hindi titigil ang PNP sa paghahanap sa mga taong umiiwas sa pananagutan. Ang bawat matagumpay na pag-aresto ay patunay na patuloy nating pinagtitibay ang pagpapatupad ng batas at ang karapatan ng mga biktima na makamit ang hustisya,” Nartatez said.
Nartatez said the operation showed the importance of intelligence-driven enforcement in tracking fugitives facing serious criminal charges.
“No matter how long it takes or where they choose to hide, individuals wanted for serious crimes will remain subject to the full force of the law,” he said.
The PNP said it would continue its manhunt operations against wanted persons and other criminal elements as part of its broader law enforcement campaign.
