President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. delivered an address before the National Diet of Japan on May 28, marking a significant moment in Philippine-Japan relations.

According to Ambassador Mylene Garcia-Albano of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, the opportunity to address the Japanese Diet is a privilege granted only to a select few foreign leaders.

Garcia-Albano said President Marcos’ speech before the Japanese legislature reflects the Japanese government’s recognition of the progress achieved under his administration in recent years.

She also noted that the invitation acknowledged the President’s efforts in strengthening and enhancing bilateral relations between the Philippines and Japan.

The address further underscored the growing partnership between the two countries in areas such as economic cooperation, regional security, trade, and people-to-people exchanges.

The Philippine Embassy said the President’s participation in the high-level engagement highlights the continuing commitment of both nations to deepen diplomatic and strategic ties.
