48 CTG Members Surrender in MIMAROPA Since January, PNP Says

The Philippine National Police said 48 Communist Terrorist Group members have surrendered in the MIMAROPA Region from January 1 to July 2, 2026, as the government continues its campaign for lasting peace through sustained reintegration efforts.

The PNP said the latest surrender took place on July 2, when a CTG member voluntarily turned himself in at the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company in Oriental Mindoro and surrendered one .38 caliber revolver.

As part of the government’s peace and reintegration program, the individual also received financial and grocery assistance to support his return to the community.

Earlier, on June 29, two CTG members also surrendered in separate activities in Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro.

One of them, a former Vice Squad Leader of the Sandatahang Yunit Propaganda under Platoon Guerrilla, SRMA 4D, surrendered through the joint efforts of the 404th B Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion MIMAROPA, the Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office, the Regional Intelligence Division, and the Regional Intelligence Unit 4B.

In a separate activity in Occidental Mindoro, another CTG member abandoned the armed movement and turned over one homemade 12-gauge shotgun through the joint efforts of the Provincial Intelligence Team of Occidental Mindoro, the Magsaysay Municipal Police Station, the Occidental Mindoro Police Provincial Office, the Regional Intelligence Division, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Based on custodial debriefing, the individual joined the underground movement in 2019 and served under KLG-MAV, SRMA 4D before choosing peaceful reintegration.

The latest surrender brought to 48 the total number of CTG members who have voluntarily surrendered in MIMAROPA, including one personality listed under the Periodic Status Report.

The PNP said the development reflects the sustained gains of the government’s peace-building initiatives and the growing confidence of former rebels in reintegration programs carried out by the PNP, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, local government units, and community stakeholders.

The police organization said the gains are aligned with its PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations and Active Community Support, which seek to strengthen intelligence-driven initiatives, community partnerships, and efforts to encourage members of armed groups to abandon violence.

“Every individual who chooses peace over armed struggle strengthens the safety of our communities and reinforces our collective pursuit of lasting peace. The PNP will continue working with partner agencies and local stakeholders to expand opportunities for reintegration and help more individuals become productive members of society,” PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said.
