President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed former Palawan Rep. Franz Josef Alvarez as acting president and chief executive officer of the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC), Malacañang announced Wednesday.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that Alvarez was also named acting member of the PNOC Board of Directors, replacing Joel Caminada.

Before his latest appointment, Alvarez had been serving since 2023 as president and chief executive officer of PNOC Exploration Corporation, a PNOC subsidiary, where he also sat as a board member.
Alvarez represented Palawan’s 1st District in the House of Representatives from 2013 to 2023.
He also served as a member of the Palawan Provincial Board from 2010 to 2013.
Alvarez earned his Bachelor of Arts in Humanities degree from the University of Asia and the Pacific.
