The condition of three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) seriously injured in an explosion at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on October 10, 2026, continues to improve, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
In a report by Labor Attaché Dominador Salanga, one of the three patients previously confined in the intensive care unit (ICU) has been transferred to a regular ward of the burn unit at a government hospital.
A second patient, who remains in the ICU, may also be transferred to a regular ward soon, while the third continues to receive intensive care but has shown steady improvement.
The third patient is conscious and has recorded a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15 out of 15, indicating full consciousness.
The two patients still under intensive care are expected to be moved to regular wards as their overall conditions continue to improve.
Meanwhile, DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia alongside other department officials and personnel to personally check on the injured OFWs.
Cacdac will also meet with Filipino community leaders to convey the message of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and discuss the situation and needs of Filipinos residing in Saudi Arabia.
The upcoming visit will be conducted under the One-Country Team Approach, led by the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) through the Philippine Embassy and Consulate.
