TESDA Boosts Textile, Weaving Industry in Ilocos Norte

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is boosting Ilocos Norte’s textile and weaving industry through targeted training, innovation and local partnerships.

During a recent visit to the Regional Yarn Production and Innovation Center in Vintar, TESDA Secretary Kiko Benitez highlighted ongoing efforts to expand opportunities for regional weavers and textile workers. Joined by local officials, Benitez was received by Philippine Textile Research Institute Director Dr. Julius L. Leaño Jr., DOST-Ilocos Norte Provincial Director Engr. Brian U. Rasco, and Vintar Mayor Richard Regala.

To deepen this collaboration, the Vintar municipal government is designing a local technical-vocational program focused on Bamboo Production NC II and Handloom Weaving NC II.

By connecting raw material production directly to weaving and product innovation, TESDA and local leaders aim to strengthen the entire textile value chain and generate sustainable livelihoods for residents.
