Filipino workers are among the happiest employees in the Asia-Pacific region, ranking second in the latest Workplace Happiness Index: Philippines 2025 by Jobstreet by SEEK.
The Philippines posted a 77-percent workplace happiness rating, trailing only Indonesia, which led the regional index with 82 percent. The country also ranked ahead of major financial centers such as Singapore and Hong Kong.
According to the report, 33 percent of Filipino employees said they were extremely happy in their current roles, while 44 percent said they were somewhat happy.
The study, which surveyed more than 10,500 respondents across Asia-Pacific, showed that workplace satisfaction varied across Philippine regions. Visayas recorded the highest happiness rating at 82 percent, followed by the National Capital Region at 77 percent. Luzon and Mindanao both posted 76 percent.
While pay remains a major factor in attracting talent, the report found that purpose, fulfillment, and alignment with company goals are stronger drivers of employee engagement.
Around 77 percent of Filipino respondents said they feel valued at work, while 74 percent said they find their work fulfilling.
However, the study also flagged career growth as a continuing concern. It found that 55 percent of workers frequently consider changing careers, particularly those dissatisfied with promotion and advancement opportunities.
Despite the high happiness score, the report pointed to a significant mental health gap among Filipino workers. Only 41 percent said they feel in control of their stress, while 38 percent reported experiencing burnout.
The study also found that 41 percent of workers were anxious about the possible impact of artificial intelligence on their job security.
Jobstreet by SEEK said workplace happiness has a direct link to productivity and retention, noting that happy employees are twice as likely to go “above and beyond” in their roles.
