Slayyyter Comes Home With “brand new chanel$” After a Career-Best Year

Three nights in a row, the same city, sold out every time

Slayyyter opened the WOR$T GIRL IN THE WORLD TOUR in St. Louis, near where her story began. She grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri, just west of the city, a place that has remained central to the way she writes about identity, family and escape.

Her friends gave her the nickname that eventually became Slayyyter, tied to the chaotic, fun-loving image she carried as a teenager. Years later, that energy has become part of a career that includes a Billboard-charting album and a sold-out world tour.

May be an image of accordion and crowd

Fresh from three hometown shows, Slayyyter has released “brand new chanel$,” a new single with a self-directed music video that continues the world of WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA.

The song moves through late nights, expensive things, after-parties, bad decisions and relationships that are difficult to leave. Beneath the glamour is a story about recognizing when something has run its course and dealing with what comes next.

The video returns to the house used in “BEAT UP CHANEL” and includes callbacks to her previous work. A fireworks shot appears again, while the WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA album artwork is recreated in reverse. Slayyyter directing the video herself also reflects the creative control she has taken over the era.

Released March 27 through Columbia Records, WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA was recorded between 2023 and 2025 with producers including Valley Girl, Austin Corona, Wyatt Bernard, Hamish, Yakob and Owen Jackson, alongside Slayyyter herself.

The album debuted at No. 22 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Top Dance Albums chart with 27,000 album-equivalent units. Pitchfork named it Best New Music, while Rolling Stone, Billboard, Variety, ELLE, Vulture, The Ringer, Stereogum, Paste, The FADER and FLOOD Magazine included it in their best-of-2026 coverage.

Slayyyter has described the album as more authentically her than anything she had released before, drawing on sounds she loved as a teenager. Across the record, she moves through electroclash, bloghouse, industrial dance and electropop.

Its songs also reach beyond straightforward romance, touching on her relationship with her hometown, her father and the effects of growing up around instability.

“$T. LOSER” makes the hometown connection explicit, with a title that plays on St. Louis and reflects Slayyyter’s complicated feelings about where she grew up.

“Gas Station,” meanwhile, began as a song about an ex before becoming more personal. Slayyyter has connected it to a childhood memory of her father leaving her at a gas station and driving away, bringing romantic hurt and older family wounds together.

The album’s lead single, “BEAT UP CHANEL,” arrived in August 2025 as Slayyyter’s first release under Columbia Records and introduced the sound and visual direction that would define WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA.

Elsewhere, “Cannibalism!” was written in under an hour and features a vocal approach influenced by Jack White and The Cramps, while “Dance…,” her longest studio recording at four minutes and 47 seconds, takes a darker, more atmospheric direction. The album closes with “Brittany Murphy.,” a tribute to the actress Slayyyter admired growing up.

The tour has carried that momentum forward. After appearances at Coachella and Governors Ball, Slayyyter is set to perform at Lollapalooza before continuing to Reading and Leeds and All Things Go DC later in the year.

The WOR$T GIRL IN THE WORLD TOUR includes stops in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Sydney, Melbourne, São Paulo, Paris and London, where it is scheduled to close on November 5. Pearly Drops is supporting dates across North America and the UK, while Kalika is joining the European leg.

What began as an internet-driven pop project has grown into Slayyyter’s biggest era yet without losing the personal details that made her work stand out.

“brand new chanel$” does not start a new chapter so much as extend the one she is already in. After returning to St. Louis with three sold-out shows, Slayyyter is taking the world she built around WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA far beyond home.
