Trade Secretary Cristina Roque expressed satisfaction with the prices of basic commodities sold in several supermarkets in Manila.
During an inspection and price monitoring activity, Roque said bread, canned goods, bottled water, and other basic necessities were being sold within the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) suggested price list.
She noted that most of the products were even priced lower than the DTI’s listed prices.
Candle prices were also within the agency’s price list, and Roque expects them to remain stable despite the approaching observance of Undas.
The DTI chief assured the public that prices of basic commodities would not increase until December 31, 2026.
She also said supermarkets had sufficient supplies of bottled water, urging consumers not to panic-buy amid the hot weather brought by El Niño.
Although the DTI does not regulate flower sales at Dangwa, Roque said she wanted to check the prices there and determine the volume of locally grown flowers arriving at the market.
She added that she supports the sale of locally grown flowers.
