The Philippine National Police (PNP) has imposed administrative penalties on 1,191 police personnel in the first four months of 2026 as part of its intensified internal cleansing and disciplinary campaign.

Data from the PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) showed that from January 1 to May 6, various sanctions were handed down against officers and personnel found liable for administrative offenses and misconduct.

The penalties ranged from suspension and dismissal from service to demotion, salary forfeiture, reprimand, restriction, and withholding of privileges, depending on the gravity of the violations.

Among those penalized, 551 personnel were suspended, while 353 were dismissed from service. Another 176 personnel faced forfeiture of salary, 63 were demoted, 23 received reprimands, 20 had privileges withheld, and five were placed under restriction.

PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the organization remains firm in implementing a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, misconduct, and other violations within the police force.

“Patuloy nating pinaiigting ang internal cleansing program ng PNP upang matiyak na ang mga pulis na lumalabag sa batas at sa ating mga alituntunin ay naaaksyunan nang naaayon sa due process,” Nartatez said.

He stressed that disciplinary actions are enforced regardless of rank and are necessary to preserve public trust and professionalism within the organization.

Separate records from the DIDM also showed that from August 26, 2025 to May 6, 2026, a total of 1,108 police personnel and civilian employees had been dismissed from service under the PNP’s expanded accountability campaign.

The figure included 1,020 Police Non-Commissioned Officers, 52 Police Commissioned Officers, and 36 Non-Uniformed Personnel.

The PNP said the continuing disciplinary drive forms part of broader reforms aimed at building a more accountable, service-oriented, and professional police organization under its “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas” program.
