The Philippine National Police arrested 153 people and referred 145 cybercrime cases for filing in May as part of intensified operations against online scams and other digital offenses.
The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group said the cases referred for filing from May 1 to 31 included 105 regular filings and 40 inquest proceedings.
Of those arrested, 45 were apprehended through warrants of arrest, while another 45 were caught in entrapment operations.
Police also arrested 63 suspects during the implementation of warrants to search, seize, and examine computer data.
The ACG also reported 17 convictions in cyber-related cases during the same period.
As part of its digital enforcement and investigation efforts, the unit conducted 2,124 cyber patrols nationwide, implemented 140 warrants to disclose computer data, completed 66 digital forensic examinations, and rescued and assisted seven cybercrime victims.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the figures showed the police organization’s continuing effort to adapt to crimes committed through online platforms.
“Patuloy nating pinapalakas ang kakayahan ng ating mga cyber operatives dahil ang krimen ngayon ay hindi na lamang sa lansangan nangyayari, kundi pati na rin sa digital na mundo. We are making sure that our response is faster, smarter, and more coordinated,” Nartatez said.
He said the public can expect sustained operations against cybercrime as the PNP improves its investigative and technical capabilities.
The PNP said the results were part of its broader push for intelligence-driven and technology-enabled policing under its Enhanced Managing Police Operations framework.
It said cybercrime operations would continue as authorities respond to evolving online threats, including scams, digital fraud, online exploitation, and other offenses committed through electronic platforms.
