The Philippine Military Academy honored Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. with a testimonial parade and review in Baguio City on Saturday, July 4.
The ceremony was held at Fort General Gregorio H. del Pilar, where Brawner was accorded arrival honors at the Sundial Area before signing the guest book, attending a reception at the Maharlika Lounge, and touring academy facilities.
During the parade and review at Borromeo Field, Brawner was conferred the Outstanding PMA Alumnus Award, or Ulirang Alumnus ng Akademiya, in recognition of his distinguished service and leadership in the AFP.
In his message at Yap Hall, Brawner encouraged cadets to persevere through hardship and remain anchored on service, unity, faith, and trust in God’s timing.
“There will be moments when you struggle and question yourself. There will be instances when you fail and wonder whether you really belong here. When those times come, remember this: take it one day at a time… serve others before yourself… stay united in purpose… trust God’s timing… and have faith even when you cannot see where the road leads,” Brawner said.
Brawner, a member of PMA “Makatao” Class of 1989, is the 60th Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Over more than three decades in military service, he has held key leadership posts, including Commanding General of the Philippine Army, Commandant of Cadets of the Philippine Military Academy, and Commander of the 4th Infantry Division.
He also served in major command and staff assignments and pursued advanced studies in information management, business administration, and strategic studies in local and foreign institutions.
The PMA said Brawner’s leadership and service continue to bring honor to the academy and serve as an example to future generations of cadets and military officers.
