Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan has filed Senate Resolution No. 573 congratulating and commending P-pop supergroup SB19 for becoming the first Filipino act to perform at Lollapalooza.

Filed on Tuesday, Aug. 4, the resolution honors the five-member group, composed of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin, for their historic set at Lollapalooza Chicago 2026 and their role in elevating Original Pilipino Music (OPM) globally.

On July 31, the “Kings of P-Pop” took the Allianz Stage, delivering a high-energy performance featuring hit tracks such as “GENTO” and “MAPA,” alongside a cover of Francis Magalona’s “Mga Kababayan.” SB19 shared the festival lineup with global stars including Jennie, Lorde, Charli XCX and Tate McRae.

“Their performance at Lollapalooza is a momentous occasion in celebrating Filipino excellence in music, arts and dance,” Pangilinan said in the resolution. “It cements the global significance of Original Pilipino Music and highlights the impact of Filipino talent in the performing arts.”

Pangilinan also commended the group’s philanthropic contributions, including funding disaster relief, donating hospital equipment during the pandemic and supporting local charities.

Prior to Lollapalooza, SB19 earned a Billboard Music Award nomination for Top Social Artist in 2021, appeared twice on Japan’s “THE FIRST TAKE” and won top honors at the 2023 Asia Artist Awards. Pangilinan emphasized that Senate Resolution No. 573 serves as a call to increase government backing for the Philippine creative sector to help domestic artists achieve international success.
