The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is set to reach a major milestone in its ongoing fleet modernization as it prepares to officially receive the final batch of its S-70i Black Hawk utility helicopters.

The PAF will hold an acceptance, turnover and blessing ceremony for seven newly delivered S-70i Black Hawk helicopters tomorrow, August 26, 2026, at the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing Hangar inside Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

According to a statement from PAF Spokesperson Col. Ma. Christina Basco, the event will be graced by Lieutenant General Arthur M. Cordura, Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force, who will serve as the guest of honor.

The arrival of the seven helicopters completes the delivery of all 32 S-70i Black Hawk units procured under the PAF’s modernization program, marking a significant advancement for the country’s rotary-wing capability.

Col. Basco highlighted that the addition of these aircraft will significantly bolster the air force’s operational versatility across various tactical and civilian missions. The expanded fleet is slated to support troop and personnel transport, humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR), search and rescue (SAR), medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) and other critical air operations nationwide.

“This milestone reflects the PAF’s continuing efforts to modernize its fleet and enhance mission readiness,” Basco stated. “With a larger and more capable Black Hawk fleet, the PAF is better positioned to provide responsive air support in both national defense operations and in times of crisis, particularly when communities need immediate assistance.”

The completion of the 32-unit acquisition program underscores the military branch’s long-term commitment to building a credible, agile and mission-ready force capable of safeguarding national security and delivering timely assistance to the Filipino people.
