New Beginning: Young Manila Girl Receives Prosthetic Arm

A 10-year-old girl from Manila is starting a new chapter after receiving a prosthetic arm, months after an accident cost her part of her limb.

Stephanie Jennylyn Respicio was formally handed the artificial arm by Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso during a visit to Manila City Hall, where local officials extended support to her and her family.

Respicio lost her left arm following injuries sustained from a firecracker incident after a rollerblading accident on January 5, 2026, according to the Manila Public Information Office.

With the prosthesis costing around Php 250,000, her family sought assistance from the city government through its Kaagapay program, which helped cover the expense.

City officials said the assistance forms part of ongoing efforts to support residents facing medical and financial challenges, particularly children in need of specialized care.
