MMDA Inspects Taguig Pumping Stations Ahead of Heavy Rains

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority inspected three major pumping stations in Taguig City to ensure they are operational and ready to respond to flooding during heavy rains.

The inspection covered the Taguig, Labasan and Tapayan pumping stations as part of the agency’s continuing efforts to strengthen flood-control operations across Metro Manila.

MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations David Angelo Vargas led the inspection upon the directive of Chairman Don Artes.

Vargas was joined by Flood Control and Sewerage Management Office Director Engr. Michael Doce and Engr. Roberto Dadural, who assessed the condition of the pumping facilities and related flood-mitigation equipment.

The team also inspected the MMDA’s amphibious excavator and water hyacinth harvester, which are used to desilt waterways, remove water hyacinths and clear obstructions that impede water flow.

The MMDA said inspections, maintenance work and cleanup operations would continue at pumping stations and drainage systems to keep the capital region’s flood-control facilities in optimal condition throughout the rainy season.
