The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) assured customers that its personnel and response teams would remain on standby 24/7 to address electricity-related concerns during the Undas observance on November 1 and 2.
Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe Zaldarriaga said crews were ready to respond to customer concerns to help ensure a safe and reliable power supply as families visit cemeteries and remember their departed loved ones.
“Meralco will be ready to respond to any power-related concerns of our customers to help ensure safe and reliable electricity service while families spend time to honor and remember their departed loved ones,” Zaldarriaga said.
Meralco Business Centers will be closed on November 1 and 2, but customers can still seek assistance through the company’s digital platforms, official social media accounts, and hotline.
The company also reminded the public to unplug appliances before leaving home, avoid overloading electrical outlets, keep electrical wires and equipment dry, and keep flammable materials away from lights and other heat sources.
Meanwhile, Meralco said its facilities, systems, and response teams were prepared for the possible effects of El Niño, including increased electricity demand due to hot weather.
“We expect electricity demand to rise as temperatures increase during El Niño. To help mitigate the impact on power consumption and electricity bills, we encourage customers to adopt simple energy conservation habits and use electricity more efficiently,” Zaldarriaga also said.
Customers may report electricity-related concerns through the My Meralco app, the company’s official Facebook page, its X account at @meralco, or its hotline at 16211.
