Before gaining worldwide recognition through Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, Korean-American singer-songwriter EJAE had already built a lasting relationship through music, one that culminated in a wedding in Seoul, South Korea.
EJAE, whose real name is Kim Eun-jae, married longtime partner and music producer Samuel “Sam” Kim on October 17, more than nine years after their first meeting during a songwriting session.
The ceremony took place at Stage 28, a venue with personal significance to the singer. The property previously belonged to her maternal grandfather, veteran South Korean actor Shin Young-kyun, and was later converted into an events venue.
According to Vogue, EJAE spent time at the property during her childhood, making it a meaningful location for the celebration.
The couple’s relationship began in May 2017 after a mutual friend arranged a songwriting session at Kim’s home studio. Their professional connection eventually developed into a romantic relationship.
Kim proposed in June 2025 at a park in Brooklyn, New York, shortly before the release of KPop Demon Hunters, which would bring EJAE international recognition.
The couple originally intended to hold their wedding in California in November 2026 but eventually moved the celebration to South Korea and scheduled it a month earlier.
Their wedding preparations coincided with EJAE’s increasingly busy professional schedule following the success of the Netflix animated film, in which she provided the singing voice of Rumi, the leader of the fictional girl group HUNTR/X.
The celebration featured elements of Korean wedding traditions, including a paebaek ceremony honoring family elders. EJAE wore traditional Korean attire and later changed into a custom Danielle Frankel wedding gown, complemented by family heirloom jewelry.
Several artists connected to KPop Demon Hunters joined the occasion, including Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, who performed the singing voices of HUNTR/X members Mira and Zoey.
Andrew Choi, who provided the singing voice of Jinu in the animated film, officiated the ceremony.
EJAE shared photographs from the wedding on Instagram on October 20, offering fans a glimpse of the celebration.
The wedding comes during a milestone year in the singer’s career. After years of writing music for K-pop acts such as Red Velvet and aespa, she achieved international success through KPop Demon Hunters and its breakout song “Golden,” which she co-wrote and performed.
Her contributions to the track earned her recognition as one of the songwriters behind its Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media and Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2026.
