HPG Apprehends 10 Wanted Persons in Monthlong Nationwide Manhunt

The Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-NHPG) arrested 10 wanted persons, including a Pakistani national and several high-value fugitives, during a 30-day nationwide manhunt operation in May.

PNP-HPG chief Brig. Gen. Rommel Batangan said the operations were carried out across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao through intelligence gathering, surveillance, tracker operations, and coordination with other law enforcement units.

Among those arrested were two persons listed among the national most wanted: a Top 10 most wanted person apprehended in Iloilo for carnapping and a Top 9 most wanted person arrested at a transport terminal in Ecoland, Davao City, also for carnapping.

In Bulacan, HPG operatives arrested a 42-year-old man in San Jose del Monte City after intelligence reports confirmed his presence in Barangay Lawang Pari. A 20-year-old man was also arrested in Norzagaray during a validated operation in Barangay Tigbe.

In Quezon City, authorities arrested a 53-year-old man along Aurora Boulevard following coordinated surveillance and intelligence validation.

In Laguna, a 32-year-old man was arrested in Biñan City for carnapping and qualified theft, while in Baguio City, a 37-year-old Pakistani national was arrested for illegal recruitment committed by a syndicate in a joint multi-agency operation.

HPG tracker teams also arrested a carnapping suspect in Davao Oriental. In Northern Luzon, sustained surveillance led to the arrest of another carnapping suspect who had allegedly been moving between La Union and Tarlac to evade authorities.

In a separate inter-agency operation, another suspect facing illegal recruitment and estafa charges was arrested and turned over to the National Bureau of Investigation for custody and proper disposition.

“Focused intelligence-led policing and inter-unit coordination remain key in ensuring that wanted persons are located and brought to account through lawful operations,” Batangan said.

“Sa loob ng 30 araw na tuloy-tuloy na manhunt operations, pinatunayan ng ating hanay na ang mas pinaigting na monitoring at mabilis na pag-aksyon ay nagreresulta sa matagumpay na pag-aresto ng mga wanted persons,” he added.

The HPG said the arrests form part of its intensified campaign against fugitives and its efforts to support the PNP’s enhanced managing police operations.

Batangan said the unit would continue conducting intelligence-driven operations nationwide to help bring wanted persons before the courts and strengthen public safety.
