House Speaker Faustino G. Dy III has pledged that the House of Representatives will subject the proposed P7.2-trillion national budget for 2027 to meticulous line-by-line examination to ensure that every peso of taxpayer money is spent accountably and yields meaningful benefits for the public.
Speaking to reporters after leading the fourth LegisHear public consultation in South Cotabato, Dy described the General Appropriations Bill as the lower chamber’s top legislative priority due to its far-reaching consequences for everyday citizens and local communities nationwide.
“Alam niyo marami pong napakahalagang mga isinusulong ang House of Representatives, pero ang pinaka importante sa lahat na isinusulong naming ang atin pong national budget,” Dy stated.
“Ngayon nandun po kami sa process ng budget deliberation and we are making sure na ang bawat sentimo, ang bawat pinagpawisan ng ating mga kababayang Pilipino ay nasa tama ang pagpapa-programa at pag-aallocate ng mga pondong malalagyan nito,” he added.
The Speaker emphasized that lawmakers are determined to maintain strict transparency standards throughout the hearings, ensuring that executive agencies justify their spending proposals based on concrete outcomes, particularly regarding poverty alleviation and economic development.
“Ang Kongreso ngayon ay pinagsisikapan namin na talagang maging maayos, maging transparent ang bawat pagtatalakay ng bawat budget ng mga iba’t ibang mga departments,” Dy pointed out.
He also expressed appreciation for his colleagues in the chamber, noting their shared commitment to steering public funds toward high-impact initiatives.
“I’m very thankful that each member of the House talagang very supportive naman sila. Tinitingnan nilang mabuti na ang bawat pisong inilalaan sa isang proyekto ay dapat merong impact sa kabuhayan at kung maaring makapagbigay o maiangat namin ang kabuhayan ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” he said.
The announcement comes as the House Committee on Appropriations wrapped up its scheduled agency-level budget briefings, setting the stage for plenary debates on the 2027 national expenditure plan.
